India announced a 15-member squad on September 8, with Ravichandran Ashwin commemorating the T20I set four years later as one of the highlights. Former India captain MS Dhoni, who led India to each T20 World Cup, was announced as the tournament's advisor.
The Indian team made one change to its squad on October 13. Shardul Thakur has joined the squad to replace Axar Patel, who has been shortlisted for the tournament.
